  1. Hi Lesieli, this is Mrs Collins and I'll be commenting on blogs over the term break. Well done on posting and participating in the SLJ this year. I like the collective slide deck you created and I really like the post you created on "Discovering Aotearoa" and sharing about your family history. When we moved to New Zealand we had to leave all of our family behind in England, but they, and some of our friends, have been out to visit many times... Do you speak Tongan at home? Keep blogging, and commenting on others to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes, and to keep up your learning over the school break!

  2. Kia Ora Lesieli,

I’m Dani, one of the blog commenters for the Kaikohekohe cluster for the Summer Learning Journey. I have heard some great things about the learners in the Manaiakalani cluster so I thought I would jump on and check out some blog posts.

That’s a great list of food. Canned food is such a good idea because the food won’t go off! Plus there are hundreds of different types of canned food so you would never get bored! Did you know that you can a WHOLE chicken in a can? I think they are from America not New Zealand though.

What a beautiful slide about your culture and family. I really enjoy reading all the different learner’s cultures. I can tell you are very proud of your culture. During our Tongan Language week my school had a MMT Red Day and I was very lucky that some of my Tongan students decided to dress me up. I was even wearing a kiekie! Did your school do anything special for Tongan Language Week at your school?

    Keep up the awesome posts.

    Blog ya later,

    Dani
